Another fast-moving storm system is expected to move across central North Dakota and into west-central Minnesota today and Friday, possibly bringing 6 or more inches of snow, the National Weather Service announced Wednesday.
Cass and Clay counties and counties to the west and north to the Canadian border are in a winter storm watch from this evening through Friday afternoon.
Strong northern winds are expected to produce blowing and drifting snow late tonight through Friday, which will significantly reduce visibility and create blizzard conditions.
The storm carries a threat of 6 or more inches of snow, mainly from the Minot and Devils Lake, N.D., areas southeast into the Red River Valley beginning tonight, the weather service said.
Winds during most of the snowfall won't be strong, but they will increase to 20 to 30 mph by Friday afternoon, causing some blowing and drifting snow, the weather service said.

People considering travel across the region during the storm are encouraged to monitor the forecasts for any weather changes, the weather service said.
