FARGO - Effective Nov. 19, the Social Security office here will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, a reduction of 30 minutes each weekday.
Beginning Jan. 2, the office will close to the public at noon every Wednesday.
Agency employees will continue to work regular hours; the shorter public window will allow employees to complete face-to-face interviews and process claims work without incurring overtime. The changes are because of reduced federal funding.
All Social Security field offices will be closed to the public Nov. 23 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
