An 18-year-old Fargo South High School student hit by a car Thursday is listed in stable condition.
Christopher J. Tuttle was listed in critical condition Thursday night.
Tuttle was taken to Fargo's Innovis Health after being struck by the vehicle at about 1:47 p.m. in the school's south parking lot.
Preliminary investigation indicates that "there was some horseplay involved" that may have contributed to the accident, including running alongside the car and possibly laying across or jumping on the hood of the vehicle, Fargo police Lt. Pat Claus said.
Claus said the accident should be a reminder to people that motor vehicles are dangerous.

"You've got a couple tons of steel moving along. If something gets in their way, especially a person, the person's going to come out on the bad end of it," he said.
The 17-year-old student driving the vehicle was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing, and police have not had a chance to speak with Tuttle, Claus said.
