The North Dakota Department of Transportation will close southbound Interstate 29 under the I-94 bridges tonight to set beams for the new eastbound I-94 bridge.
The closure is expected to last from 10 p.m. tonight to 6 a.m. Friday.
The detour will direct southbound I-29 traffic onto westbound I-94 to the exit at 45th Street, then south to the loop ramp for eastbound I-94 and back to the southbound I-29 exit.
Contractors began setting some bridge beams Tuesday over non-traffic areas, and that head start should eliminate the need for more than one night of closures, said Joe Peyerl, NDDOT project engineer.
A second nighttime closing on southbound I-29 is expected early next week.
