Special Olympics begin Friday

Eighty-five Fargo athletes will compete in next week's 2006 Special Olympics North Dakota State Summer Games.

The games will be Friday and Saturday at North Dakota State University with competitions in aquatics, bocce ball, gymnastics, powerlifting, volleyball, and track and field.

Opening ceremonies begin at 5 p.m. in NDSU's Dacotah Field with closing ceremonies scheduled for approximately 2 p.m. the following day in Ellig Sports Complex.

More than 400 athletes from around the state will participate.
