DEVILS LAKE, N.D. - A crop spraying pilot was found dead in a tank at the airport here, and authorities said he might have been overcome by fumes.
Police said the body of Michael Meiers Jr., 73, of Devils Lake, was found by an airport worker shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday.
Authorities were awaiting autopsy results to determine a cause of death, but they said no crime was suspected.
Fire Chief Jim Moe said crews had to cut Meiers out of the large tank on which he was working.
Police said Meiers apparently had been trying to seal some leaks in the tank, which was used to mix chemicals for spraying.
