A woman who faces drug charges from the West Acres Cinema stakeout in July made her first appearance Wednesday in Cass County District Court.
Prosecutors charged 34-year-old Judy Ann Tyson Barfield with felony counts of conspiracy to deliver drugs, possession with intent to deliver and possession of paraphernalia. She was serving prison time in Bismarck for a probation violation but asked to be transferred to the Cass County Jail so she could resolve her new case.
Police arrested Barfield and her 29-year-old husband, Kelly, after staking out the theater for almost three hours the night of July 15. An undercover officer and a confidential informant had met the couple in the parking lot earlier to buy cocaine, court records say.
When other officers tried to block the Barfields' car, the suspects rammed the vehicles and drove off, records say. The suspects then hid in the theater until walking out about midnight.
Kelly Barfield also faces felony charges from the incident.
