FARGO – The Streets-Alive open-street event comes to downtown Fargo-Moorhead again from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 24.
Three miles of streets through both cities will be closed to cars to encourage walking, running, biking, rollerblading and dancing. Special events, demonstrations and vendor booths spill over into parking lots and parks along the route.
Headquarters and information will be at the corner of Fourth Avenue North and Broadway. Open-air yoga will be led by the YMCA of Cass Clay at 1:30 and 3 p.m. Athletic performances of gymnastics and fencing will be staged in downtown Fargo.
Fargo’s 10th Avenue North will serve as “Activity Alley” with kids’ games and events. Live demonstrations by the Scottish Science Guy of the Concordia College Science Academy will entertain and involve kids and adults. The newly launched mobile recreation unit of the Boys & Girls Club will provide street hockey and other games.
Organized by CassClayAlive and PartnerSHIP 4 Health, along with other organizations, Streets-Alive also includes:

  • A demonstration of bow-drill fire-making, with a 25-foot youth-built wood canoe on display.
  • Fargo Force hockey inflated puck shoot for kids.
  • Archery Tag, a sport that combines paintball and dodgeball using the skills of archery.
  • A bike rodeo by Fargo-Moorhead Rotary clubs.
  • A life-sized Yummy Land game, a healthy take-off of Candy Land.
  • Dance activities.
