Sunday briefing: 2 men injured in Moorhead bar fight

Two men were taken to MeritCare Hospital early Saturday after being cut in a fight outside a Moorhead bar, Moorhead police said.

Moorhead Police Sgt. Joel Scharf said Ali Jabir Nasir, 26, Fargo, suffered a cut on the neck in a 2 a.m. altercation outside Coach's Bar, 617 Center Ave.

A second man, Mohamed Ali Omar, 24, Fargo, suffered a cut to his torso.

Police Sgt. Dan Griffin said both men, who were conscious at the scene, were taken to MeritCare Hospital. A nursing supervisor there said she had no information on either.

No arrests were made at the scene, Griffin said, and the fight remains under investigation.

Porsche car show slated for Saturday

The Roughriders Porsche Club has scheduled a car show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Valley Imports, 402 40th St. S., Fargo.

People can view the cars and vote for the People's Choice awards in several categories and enter a raffle.

Participants entering Porsches should arrive at 10 a.m. Raffle and contest winners will be announced at 2 p.m.

An informal driving tour to the lakes country will begin at 3:30 p.m., weather permitting. The tour will conclude with dinner at 5:30 p.m.

Climax to celebrate Small Town Saturday

CLIMAX, Minn. - Residents from here and the Red River Valley are invited to celebrate the seventh annual Small Town Saturday festival June 25 in Climax.

Highlights include a picnic lunch about noon at the town fire hall, the Golden Eagle Boxing Invitational at 1 p.m. on Broadway, a classic car show, the Basket Social Auction and a grilled pork and tamale supper at 5 p.m.

There will be a Spanish Baile dance at 9 p.m. in the Community Center. Mexican food and drink will be provided.

Organizations to host parade, kids' fest

The Fargo Park District and Ronald McDonald House will host a Teddy Bear Parade and Midwest Kid Fest on June 17 in Island Park.

Children are urged to bring a teddy bear for the Teddy Bear Parade, which begins at 10:30 a.m. The Midwest Kid Fest follows from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Festivities include interactive education booths, carnival games and crafts. There will also be two entertainment stages featuring performances from Penny and Pals, the University of Minnesota raptor Center, magician Jeffrey Salveson and Clowndimonium.

Fraser to hold math, reading camp

Fraser Ltd. in Fargo will host a camp for children who need help with math and reading skills

The camp will focus on gross motor activities to stimulate the brain for enhanced learning. The program is called Stimulating Maturity Through Accelerated Readiness Training (S.M.A.R.T.)

The camp runs June 20 to July 1 and July 11-22.
