The Red River Valley SWAT team will conduct a training exercise from 3-9 p.m. today at Jefferson Elementary School.

The team will deploy tactical, bomb, TEMS (tactical medics) and negotiation units with FM ambulance and the Fargo School District during a simulated mock school takeover, according to a Fargo police news release.

Dozens of role players and fake casualties will be used, and SWAT officers and vehicles will patrol the area during the training session.

Police officials want the public to remain calm if they hear yelling, small detonations or see personnel with firearms.

The training will be conducted under safety protocols, according to the release.
