'Sweeney Todd' to play in Fargo

Just as Johnny Depp and Tim Burton fans in Fargo-Moorhead thought all hope was lost, word came Tuesday that "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" will be coming to the area after all. The movie is set to open in Fargo on Jan.

Just as Johnny Depp and Tim Burton fans in Fargo-Moorhead thought all hope was lost, word came Tuesday that "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" will be coming to the area after all. The movie is set to open in Fargo on Jan. 18 at the West Acres theater.

The Marcus Corp., which owns the West Acres 14and Century 10 theaters, announced in December that it was not able to reach an agreement with Paramount Pictures on the cost of screening the film and would not be showing the movie.

But, a Wednesday Marcus release states that they have now reached an agreement with Paramount and will show the film in select theaters beginning Friday and a week later in Iowa and North Dakota theaters.
