Swishes for Wishes, a free-throw contest benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation, will be today through Saturday during the Class B basketball tournament. The goal is to raise $6,000 to fund one of the 24 wishes currently being coordinated.
The contest, at the JCPenney wing of West Acres, will charge $1 to shoot five free throws. A participant who makes four out of five free-throws will advance to the semifinals on Saturday.
Top winners in each category, ages 8 to 11, ages 12 to 17 and ages 18 and over, will receive $75 in West Acres gift certificates. The "Hot Shot" winner will earn an additional $100 gift certificate.
Times for the contest are: today, noon to 8 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with semifinals from 3 to 5 p.m. and the finals starting at 5 p.m.
