Teenager dies in South Dakota crash

PIERRE, S.D. – A 17-year-old girl died early Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle crash in Pierre.
The name of the person is not being released pending notification of family. She was the driver and lone occupant in the vehicle.
A 1998 Chevy Lumina was traveling east on Fourth Street when the driver failed to negotiate a turn in the roadway at Governors Drive. The vehicle eventually hit a light pole.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a seatbelt.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol and the Pierre Police Department are conducting a joint investigation into the crash.
