A dozen teenagers gathered today to quickly take advantage of a change in North Dakota law.

Starting today, residents age 14 and older can indicate their wish to be organ donors on their drivers' licenses. Previously, residents had to be at least 18 to do so.

Friends of Alexa Kersting, a teen from West Fargo who died in 2004 while waiting for a double lung transplant, waited in line this morning to get their new licenses.

Kersting's best friend, Emily Schreier, 17, said she knew as soon as Kersting died that she wanted to be an organ donor.

"I'm now proud to say that I am one," Schreier said.
