"Turn for the Worst" is all it takes for a listener to suspect - correctly - that The Deaths didn't experience any such poor navigation in the follow-up to its excellent 2005 debut. "Turn" is the first track off the new CD, "Centralia," and it finds the quartet (Fargo-bred, Minneapolis-based) in familiar form: pouring out thick layers of entrancing, sad melody - a psychedelic parfait that's worlds away from the noise act the guys gave up on in Fargo because they actually wanted to hear their songs. "Centralia" also plows some fresh turf. Nothing on 2005's "Choir Invisible" was as trip-hop as "Selector" or as Pink Floyd-like as "...To the Start." It's a CD release party at 10 p.m. on Friday at The Aquarium, with openers Sugoii and Fine Young Knives. Cover is $5. (701) 235-5913
