An overloaded extension cord is being blamed for a Thursday fire that damaged a south Fargo home.
Firefighters were called at 10:23 p.m. to 1539 8th Ave. S. after the occupants smelled smoke and found fire in an exterior wall, Fargo Assistant Fire Chief Larry Schuh said. Firefighters cut open the wall and quickly extinguished the flames.
There was about $5,000 in light smoke and water damage to an exterior wall, Schuh said. The cause is believed to have been an overloaded extension cord hooked into a window air conditioner, he said.
