GRAND FORKS, N.D. - At least two companies face prosecution for charging too much for towing vehicles, city officials say.

City law limits towing fees to $100, with a storage fee of $10 a day.

Police say they have had about 180 complaints and questions from drivers about towing charges.

City Councilman Mike McNamara said he thinks many University of North Dakota students will file complaints after returning from their winter break.

McNamara, whose ward includes UND students, said there may be other violations.
