Traffic on Interstate 29 diverted around sugar beet spill

Sugar beets lay on the side of I-29 after a truck spill

FARGO — A sugar beet spill caused a brief slow down on Interstate 29 near 13th Avenue in Fargo this morning around 8 a.m.

There was around 50 yards of beets spilled along the interstate. The beets were swept to the side of the road as traffic was directed around the situation.

The driver of the truck appeared to be okay but that information is not yet confirmed.

There were three North Dakota Highway Patrol units on scene.

The truck was escorted back onto the interstate a round 9 a.m.

The highway patrol has not yet responded to a call seeking further details on what caused the spill.
