The Fargo Public Library has closed the book on one chapter of its history and is about to open another.
Workers have for the past month been busy moving the library and its contents from its old location, 102 3rd St. N., to its new but temporary downtown location at 408 Roberts St.
The old building must be cleaned out and ready to turn over to contractors by Feb. 1. The new site will open this week, Interim Library Director Beth Postema said Sunday.
The temporary site will hold
10 percent of the downtown library's collection, according to Postema.

The other 90 percent will be stored at the Public Safety Building at 4630 15th Ave. N.
A limited number of Internet-accessible computers will be at the new location, and a small area will be available for library programs.
The Northport and Southpointe branch libraries will remain open.
The main downtown library closed Dec. 23 to make way for construction of a new building at the same site.
Demolition will start in the spring, with a new $10 million building expected to be in place by late 2008.
Plans calls for the main library to be a two-story building with at least 49,000 square feet of space.
