A 64-year-old Fargo man has been charged with sexually abusing a boy under the age of 15.

Elvin Lund, 105 Santa Cruz Drive, made his first appearance Friday in Cass County District Court for gross sexual imposition, a class A felony.

Court records say:

Lund admitted to performing oral sex on the boy, masturbating in front of him and watching gay porn with him. The victim told police the abuse lasted five years. An investigation began when the boy's sibling reported it.

Lund told police he still has sexual thoughts about the victim, but he wanted "to be healthy and not allow himself to do anything like this again."

East Central District Judge John Irby set bail at $5,000, cash or bond, after Lund asked for it to be reduced for medical reasons.

Lund, who came to court in a wheelchair, had suffered a stroke that paralyzed his left arm, and he had lost a foot from a blood infection, records say.

After his court appearance, Lund said the facts of the case weren't as bad as the charge indicated.

"It was blown out of proportion considerably," he said.

A July 10 preliminary hearing has been set.

During the conversation, Whiting first said 16 was too young for him, but then asked for a picture and eventually invited the disguised officer to his home.

Irby set bond at $2,500, 10 percent cash, and scheduled a July 10 preliminary hearing.
