Fargo police are investigating two armed robberies that took place early Sunday morning but are believed to be unrelated.

The first occurred in the area of the 440 block of 13th Avenue South at around midnight, when two men approached a woman walk-ing to her car.

One of the males had a knife and demanded money. The victim gave the suspects an undisclosed amount of cash.

The victim described the suspects as Native American or Hispanic males, both in their late teens or early 20s. She said both males stood around 5 feet 8 inches tall and wore dark hooded jackets.

The second robbery occurred at 3:38 a.m. at the Super 8 Motel, 3518 Interstate Blvd.

The employee on duty reported that two males - one Caucasian and one African-American - came into the business. One male had a handgun; the other had a knife. Both demanded money.

The employee gave the suspects an undisclosed amount of cash.

Fargo police Lt. Joel Vettel said police "do not believe the two last night are connected." However, police are trying to establish if either of Sunday's incidents are related to a spate of robberies that have occurred in the area in the past month.

"That's something we always consider in these types of circumstances," Vettel said.
