Two Discovery School staff members received special recognition from the Department of Defense on Tuesday.

Principal Linda Davis and media specialist Deb Swenson were given the Patriot Award by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, an agency of the Department of Defense. They were nominated by Discovery network manager Benjamin Ochs. Ochs is currently deployed with the North Dakota National Guard in Qatar until June 2011.

ESGR representative and US Navy veteran David Johnston presented the award plaques to Davis and Swenson in the school office.

The Patriot Award is given by state Guard and Reserve units to individuals who create or maintain a workplace environment that supports the service of the nation's volunteer military beyond USERRA law requirements.
