MOORHEAD - Two Republican candidates announced plans Friday to run for the District 4A House seat that represents Moorhead in the state Legislature.

Rep. Morrie Lanning, a Republican, said Thursday he doesn't plan to run for re-election for the post he's held for a decade.

Ken Lucier, 64, a retired postal carrier and a longtime conservative political activist, said in announcing his bid that he is anti-abortion and for defining marriage as between a man and a woman. Lucier ran for U.S. Congress in 2006 on the Constitution Party ticket, losing to Rep. Collin Peterson, a Democrat.

Travis Reimche, a patients account manager at Sanford Health, touted his business experience in announcing his candidacy. Reimche has run for city office twice in Moorhead, losing in the 2009 mayoral race and in a 2011 bid for a 2nd Ward City Council seat.

Ben Lien is also running in District 4A and has the DFL endorsement heading into the Aug. 14 primary.
