Jesaiah Lee Carlson, 32, who pleaded guilty last month to stabbing a young woman to death in the Eveleth business where she worked, was sentenced today to 40 years in prison.
Carlson, of Two Harbors, remained mute in St. Louis County District Court in Virginia when Judge Gary Pagliaccetti asked him if he had any comment before being sentenced.
Carlson killed 20-year-old Megan Ashley Anderson at midday as she worked alone at Durkee Signs & Graphics, 401 Hat Trick Ave. on Aug. 29, 2007. Anderson was stabbed 29 times.
Carlson was a salesman for Allstar Advertising of Duluth.
Pagliaccetti accept an agreement reached between the defendant and the St. Louis County Attorney's Office under which Carlson pleaded guilty to intentional second-degree murder. He had been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of attempted first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
