ROSS, N.D. - Two men were hospitalized with severe burns after an oil treater caught fire in Mountrail County.

Kyle Stipcich, 27, and Jonathan Henderson, 30, of Riverside Welding, out of Williston, were injured in the fire reported approximately 5 miles southwest of Ross at 1 p.m. on Friday.

Both men were inside the structure housing the oil treater at the time it caught fire.

"Henderson was reported to have jumped into a snow bank to extinguish the flames, and Stipcich was put out by three individuals that were nearby," according to a statement released by Jenni Dale of the Mountrail Sheriff's Department.

Stipcich received burns on the lower half of his body while Henderson had extensive burns to his upper body, including his face and head. Both men were reported to be wearing fire-retardant clothing at the time, Dale wrote.
