GRAND FORKS – Starting Monday, instructional emails will be sent throughout the week to those eligible to vote on UND's future athletic nickname.

The emails will be from Qualtrics, the external polling company that will manage the online vote scheduled to take place from 8 a.m., Oct. 19, until 11:59 p.m., Oct. 23. The message will contain voting instructions and the link to vote won't be activated until voting officially begins Oct. 19.

UND is picking a new nickname after retiring its Fighting Sioux name three years ago. Voters will choose between Fighting Hawks, Nodaks, North Stars, Roughriders and Sundogs, and results are anticipated to be available early the week of Oct. 26.

If none of the five names receives more than 50 percent of the vote, a second vote will be held between the top two vote-getters.
