MINOT, N.D. - United Blood Services is seeking donations of type O blood after three blood drives were canceled and a center here was shut down due to an Oct. 5 snowstorm.
The service lost 150 potential units of blood because of the storm, said Denise Hanson, the United Blood Services donor recruitment director.
Hanson said type O is considered the universal blood type and the one most requested by area hospitals. United Blood Services collects more than 73,000 units of blood per year for 74 area hospitals, she said.
