FARGO - Police are investigating the possibility that a 23-year-old man who died in a crash early this morning might have been drag racing.

Lt. Joel Vettel said police have information indicating that a second vehicle might have been involved in the crash, which happened at 1:50 a.m.

The Chevy Impala, which did not have any passengers, was traveling southbound on South University Drive at a high rate of speed and crossed the median before crashing into a support pillar for the Interstate 94 overpass, police said.

Unconfirmed reports said two cars were racing. The unidentified driver was alone in the car and no other injuries were reported. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police still have not yet released the identity of the Fargo man who was killed in the accident, which occurred about 1:50 a.m.
