MOORHEAD - Police here have identified the man found dead in crashed stolen car in south Moorhead.
The driver was identified as Russell Dean Thompson, 19, of Moorhead, according to a news release issued this morning.
Thompson was found in the car Tuesday afternoon.
According to Moorhead Police Sgt. Deric Swenson:
The Nissan Maxima was discovered in a grove of trees next to Drywall Supply Central at 3003 41st St. S., near the intersection of 34th Street South and Old Highway 52 in Moorhead's industrial park.

Employees at the business reported finding the car about 1 p.m. Tuesday after noticing a hole in a fence and seeing the car on the other side. It wasn't clear whether the hole was related to the crash.
Skid and tire marks indicate the car drove off 34th Street South and across a grassy patch before ending up in the grove of trees with tall grass around it, obscuring it from view.
The car involved was reported stolen out of Dilworth after 2 a.m. Tuesday, Swenson said.
"The driver has been here for a period of time," he said. "We don't know the exact time that the crash occurred, but this accident did not occur recently."
The Minnesota State Patrol will be collecting data today at the accident scene for their fatality accident report, according to today's news release from the Moorhead Police Department.
The Dilworth Police Department and Clay County Sheriff's Office are assisting with the investigation.
