MOORHEAD - More volunteers are needed today at the volunteer center at Minnesota State University Moorhead, where turnout has been "very light" so far today.
Leann Wallin, Moorhead community policing coordinator, said the center had about 25 volunteers this morning.
"We do have a need for more volunteers," said Wallin, adding that most are arriving one or two at a time.
Earlier this morning, two small groups of volunteers were dispatched to worksites north of the Hjemkomst Center to build sandbag dikes.
Wallin said she expects to start seeing students from MSUM, Concordia College and Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

After 3 p.m., more high school students are expected, Wallin said.
Two Moorhead High School sophomores were among the first volunteers today.
Taylor Rodriguez and Lucas Hanson, both 16, said they enjoyed helping last year and were eager to help again.
"Last year was a lot of fun," Rodriguez said.
The volunteer center at Nemzek Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today through Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
