WASHINGTON - North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Minnesota Rep. Collin Peterson will be in Fargo-Moorhead today for a tour of flood preparation efforts and a discussion of long-term protection plans in the Red River Valley.
The lawmakers plan to first meet with the Red River Retention Authority and Natural Resource Conservation Service in Moorhead to discuss plans to improve water retention throughout the valley.
Following the meeting, Hoeven, Klobuchar and Peterson will tour the sites of several flood-protection projects along the Red River in the metro area.
Then, at about 3:15 p.m., the trio will head to Fargo's Sandbag Central to meet with volunteers, who began this week to fill the 3 million sandbags that are expected to be used in this spring's flood fight.
