VALLEY CITY, N.D. - Officials from Valley City will hold a ceremony at 6 p.m. Saturday at Veteran's Park here to formally recognize the return of the members of the Valley City-based 231st Brigade Support Battalion of the North Dakota National Guard from their mission in Kosovo

Members of the unit left for Kosovo in August 2009 and the final troops returned in August 2010.

During the ceremony, the lights on the large tree in the park will be extinguished. The city held a ceremony in December 2009 where the lights on the tree were lit in honor and recognition of the troops and their families. The lights were to be left on until all of the troops were home from their mission.
