OAKPORT TOWNSHIP, Minn. - Lloyd and Clarice Overbo were a happy couple Saturday night.

Lloyd Overbo, 78, asked Clay County officials for help when floodwaters threatened their home north of Moorhead.

Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist issued a plea for volunteer help about 6 p.m.

By 8:35 p.m., the Overbo home at 324 80th Ave. N. was ringed with sandbags.

The bags were courtesy of the city of Moorhead, and the dike was built with volunteer help.

"We must have had 70 people show up. It was amazing," said Bergquist.

Lloyd Overbo, too, was impressed.

"Oh, I tell you. It's wonderful," he said. "It was nice to see so many people who cared."
