Fargo faces some tough competition in the Sweet 16 round of The Weather Channel's "Toughest Weather City Tournament" - regional neighbor International Falls, Minn.

Voting opened this morning for the Sweet 16 round of the online competition. The polls close at 4 a.m. Wednesday.

International Falls holds the edge in the cold-days category, with 64 days of subzero cold to Fargo's 48 days.

But, Fargo has 12 more days of 90-plus heat and a recurring spring flood risk - a factor that might boost the city's support given short-term weather forecasts and already-rising waters in the area.

Chicago and Minneapolis-St. Paul will square off in the Midwest Region's other semifinal matchup.
