W. Fargo Envirothon team places first

The West Fargo High School Envirothon team took top honors at the seventh annual North Dakota State Envirothon Competition at Cooperstown Bible Camp.

The West Fargo High School Envirothon team took top honors at the seventh annual North Dakota State Envirothon Competition at Cooperstown Bible Camp.

The team of Ben Walock, Joe Larson, Jason Zurn, Christopher Hulm and Chelsea Henderson, and alternate Michelle Harviell will represent North Dakota at the national Canon Envirothon competition July 23-29 in Winnipeg.

The team is coached by Sara Forness and sponsored by the Cass County Soil Conservation District.

Grant County and Bis-marck high schools received silver and bronze medals, respectively.

The West Fargo team received the most points in aquatics and forestry specialty categories. Grant County High School earned the most points in the soils category.

The envirothon is a problem-solving natural resource program that culminates at the end of the school year with a competition for high school students.
