MOORHEAD - A 23-year old man here has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, attempting to cause terror and property damage, according to charges filed Thursday in Clay County District Court.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Duane William Moberg, of Moorhead, after he allegedly struck a man in the head with a hammer and broke several items in the man's residence with the same hammer.

Police claim Moberg entered the alleged victim's house on April 1 and broke two TVs and two windows using a hammer.

When the man attempted to stop him, Moberg struck him in the head with the hammer, officers say. When officers arrived at the scene, the man was holding a towel to his head to stop the bleeding, police say in court records.

Moberg said the alleged victim stole $200 from him, so he began breaking things to make up for the lost money, the charges state.

Moberg also has a pending felony charge for possession of a firearm.
