Waubun, Minn., man charged in Jan. 1 stabbings

WAUBUN, Minn. - A rural Waubun man has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault following an incident in which two people were stabbed in the arm on the White Earth Reservation Jan. 1.

WAUBUN, Minn. - A rural Waubun man has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault following an incident in which two people were stabbed in the arm on the White Earth Reservation Jan. 1.

The incident was reported via a 911 emergency call at 9:27 a.m., and occurred on Mahnomen County Road 141 north of County Road 1 east of Bejou.

Amanda Alger, 23, of Naytahwaush and Elmer Gullickson, 39, of Naytahwaush were both stabbed in the arm. They were taken to the Mahnomen Health Care Center, where they were treated and released.

James Raymond Burnette, 26, of rural Waubun was taken into custody by his probation officer in connection with the stabbings. He has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault. Bail was set at $1,000 cash or $10,000 bond. His next court date is set for Monday. Waubun, Minn., man charged in Jan. 1 stabbings 20080109
