WILLIAM HOEHN AWAITING DECISION FROM THE SUPREME COURT

The fate of a Fargo man, convicted of kidnapping Savanna Greywind's newborn baby after it was cut out of her womb, is now in the hands of the North Dakota Supreme Court.

In October, William Hoehn was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for his role in the crime. Greywind was brutally murdered and later found in the Red River. Hoehn's former girlfriend, Brooke Crews, is serving a life sentence without parole for her conviction of conspiracy to commit murder. Hoehn's attorney argues he was incorrectly designated a special dangerous offender at sentencing. That specific classification allowed the judge to give him a life sentence. The state said the chaotic crime scene meets the criteria for the classification, because Hoehn helped Crews. WDAY News is staying on top of this case, and will update you as soon as the supreme court makes a decision.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER FATAL HIT AND RUN

Charges will likely be filed against a man in connection to a hit and run that killed a Grand Forks man a month ago.

WDAY learned 40-year-old Tyson Sewell could face charges including leaving the scene of a deadly accident and driving with a revoked license. First-responders found 65-year-old David Hagen of Grand Forks lying on Gateway Dr. near McDonald's with a head injury on the evening of April 8. He died at the scene. WDAY talked with people who knew Hagen to get an idea of what happened the day he died. They said Hagen got hit on his way to buy cigarettes at a convenience store. He had just worked an extra shift as a dishwasher at a nearby hotel. Hagen had also just found out a few days before he was cancer free. He battled colon cancer for several months.

FATAL HIT AND RUN CRASH REMAINS UNSOLVED

A second deadly hit-and-run accident remains unsolved in Grand Forks.

That one happened just one day before Hagen was killed. A woman from Pennsylvania died after getting hit on Demers Ave. Police recently doubled their original reward to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case.
