Today's weather aside, we are having a wonderful spring.
There have been so many days with clear, cool mornings and warm, sunny afternoons. The occasional cool setbacks have not been very cold. Even the obligatory windy days have been relatively few and far between.
The above-average temperatures through most of March and April are having the effect of stretching the spring into a full season this year. Most years, March is primarily a winter month. April is usually not as snowy as March but is too often disappointingly cold. Too often, this leaves us with a few short weeks to enjoy springtime before summer arrives.
This spring, there has been almost no snow and relatively little cold, allowing our spring to stretch into a full season. Of course, a pattern change could ruin the vibe. If May brings frequent frosts and flurries, or even a little snow, all we will remember about the spring of 2017 will be the frosts and flurries of May.
