The moment of the vernal equinox is 11:15 a.m. today, Tuesday, March 20. From a practical standpoint, the term "equinox" is imprecise, because the day and night are not actually equal in length due to refraction of light and because we measure sunrise and sunset by the top of the sun and not the middle.
There are many myths about the balance of certain forces at the equinox, none of which are true. Gravity is not made different, nor is weather affected. Spring, in general, is a time of rebirth and renewal, but there is nothing particularly fertile about the vernal equinox.
One particularly goofy equinox myth involves balancing a raw egg on its end. Go ahead and try it. It will likely take time because it is not an easy thing to do. But eventually, a patient person can balance an egg today.
Try it again another day. It will be just as possible as well as just as difficult.
