August continued our streak of above-average temperatures that started back in March.

The average temperature last month was 71.2 degrees, which is 2.2 degrees above average. Much of the warmth of August was associated with the low temperatures. The current monthly average low for August is 57 degrees, but last month, the average low temperature was 60.5 degrees.

This was also the dominate theme for this past summer as both June and July also experienced most of the warmth coming from the average lows rather than the daily highs.

These warmer-than-normal overnight low temperatures were highly beneficial to numerous crops, including gardens during the growing season.

Although temperatures finished noticeably above average, rainfall in Fargo-Moorhead finished right near the average of 2.52 inches. Officially, Hector International Airport recorded 2.76 inches of rain, with the WDAY studios recording only 2.28 inches for the month.
