'Frost: The Lives and Cultures of the Sami People'

Friday

While the American melting pot experience allowed different ethnicities to live together, it also discouraged cultural identity. One of the lost Scandinavian cultures is re-introduced when the Spirit Room in Fargo hosts a show of Sami art through July 15. Works by Norwegian photographer Fred Ivar Utse Klementsen explore the lives of the Sami people, indigenous reindeer herders in northern Scandinavia. An opening from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday ties in with this weekend's 27th annual Scandinavian Hjemkomst Festival. (701) 237-0230
