With a name that means whiskey in Irish, you wouldn't think the band Poitin would necessarily need a reason to celebrate. The Fargo-Moorhead band just released its second CD of traditional Gaelic tunes, "Winter Brew," and aims to hoist a few songs (and pints, quite likely) tonight at O'Leary's Pub in Moorhead. The Celtic septet spins a few jigs and reels again next Thursday at O'Leary's in preparation for its performance Aug. 14 and 15 at Minnesota's Irish Fair in St. Paul. Music runs from 6 to 9 p.m. the next two Thursdays. There is no cover for these 21 and older shows. (218) 287-1957
