Friday
Sculptor Sam Isham-Schopf zips to classes at Minnesota State University Moorhead on his bike, relying on studded tires to navigate slick roads in the winter. He views these rides as a time to relax and do some creative thinking. As it turns out, his latest work captures the angst of navigating metro life, both physically and spiritually. He puts cheeky twists on city trappings: the stop sign, the no-trespassing barrier and the bus stop bench. And speaking of bus stops, the St. Louis Park, Minn., native and avid proponent of public transportation recently put up life-size posters of himself at a campus stop in a bid to blur the lines between public space and the art realm. A solo show of his sculpture and installations titled "Urbanism" opens this Friday at downtown Fargo's Green Market, with
a public reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. (701) 356-0005
