Women of the Plains opening reception

Curated by North Dakota State University, "Women of the Plains" explores what it means to be a female in the Upper Midwest. The invitational features 19 artists from St. Louis Park, Minn., to Rugby, N.D., and the work ranges from jewelry and tapestries to paintings and prints, including "Badlands in Pink," a pastel drawing by Sheila Rieman of Leonard, N.D. The show is up through March in the NDSU Memorial Union Gallery with a public reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday. (701) 231-8583
