FARGO — Essentia Health is set to host three free advance care planning classes via Zoom on May 19 at 10 a.m., June 3 at 11 a.m. and June 16 at 11 a.m.

Essentia advises all adults to have an advance directive, also known as a living will or healthcare directive. An advance directive ensures that one's preferences are understood in the event of an accident, injury or sudden illness.

The class will encourage viewers to consider choosing a health care agent, important factors to an enjoyable life, fears or worries in the event of illness, and plans for a serious health situation. Further, the class will help viewers learn vocabulary, reflect on values, explore treatment goals and take steps toward completing a healthcare directive.

Those interested in signing up for a class can do so at essentiahealth.org/patients-visitors/advance-care-planning/.
