There's a changing of the guard at West Fargo High School.
Cory Steiner, an assistant principal at the school, will be the school's next principal, the district announced this morning.
Steiner steps into the job July 1.
He takes over from longtime principal Gary Clark, who is retiring at the end of the school year after 40 years with the district.
"Good high school principals are difficult to find," Superintendent David Flowers said. "We are extremely fortunate to have a person of Dr. Steiner's caliber already on staff, and prepared through mentorship by an outstanding principal to step in. Since coming to West Fargo Public Schools I have heard nothing but the highest praise for Dr. Steiner."

Steiner was named the North Dakota High School Assistant Principal of the Year in 2010. He has served as an assistant principal at the high school for five years. Previously, he served in Des Lacs-Burlington as a secondary principal and activities director for two years.
