West Fargo City Commission backs bond referendum

WEST FARGO - City commissioners here unanimously agreed Monday to support an $82.5 million bond referendum that the West Fargo School District will bring to voters on May 24.

WEST FARGO - City commissioners here unanimously agreed Monday to support an $82.5 million bond referendum that the West Fargo School District will bring to voters on May 24.

The school board wants to use the money to build two new elementary schools and a new middle school and construct an addition to the Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center that would convert it to a second high school for the city.

Commissioners liked the plan's long-range and comprehensive approach to filling the district's "dire need" for more school space.

While the city commissioners' show of support for the bond issue holds no official weight on the final outcome, it does represent the city's formal backing of the school district's growth plans.
