West Fargo police are asking the public to watch out for a suspicious male who threatened an 8-year-old girl Monday morning.

Detective Ken Zeeb said the male approached the girl at about 7:45 a.m. as she was walking on the sidewalk in the 200 block of Sukut Street, about five blocks north of South Elementary School.

"He threatened to take her and do bodily harm to her," Zeeb said.

The girl told police she kicked the male and ran home. Police don't know if the male is an adult or juvenile, Zeeb said.

The male is described as a white male with brown hair and a goatee, wearing a zip-up sweat jacket, black pants and a red baseball cap.

Zeeb said there was no indication the male was driving a vehicle.

The West Fargo Police Department will assign extra patrols to schools and bus stops during the next couple of days, he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Fargo police at (701) 433-5500.
