Members of the West Fargo teachers union have scheduled a news conference Monday in support of high school teacher Jeremy Murphy, who was recently removed as the high school newspaper adviser over a disagreement in philosophy with district administrators.

Organizers said because the West Fargo School Board won't allow teachers or students to discuss Murphy at the board's meeting Monday evening, teachers plan to voice their support elsewhere.

The West Fargo Education Association's news conference is at 1:30 p.m. at the Fargo Education Association office, 4357 13th Ave. S.W.

The School Board won't address the issue or allow supporters to discuss Murphy's role at Monday's board meeting because, they say, it's district policy not to discuss personnel issues publicly.
